A Bude based beekeeper group has been in existence for several years as an affiliate of our neighbours in Devon.

 

Greater interest in bee husbandry and an increasing number of apiaries in our corner of North Cornwall convinced us that the group needed to be re-established as an official bee keepers group.

In early 2020 the Bude Beekeepers officially joined the Cornwall Beekeepers Association as "Cornwall Beekeepers Association - Bude Group" with the aim of becoming a focal point for advice, guidance and support on all aspects of beekeeping in the area.

Bude Beekeepers has grown as a group both in terms of membership and the activities organised and hosted. 2024 saw the group further develop the training apiary so as to offer bee keepers the opportunity to work on various hive configurations. An Education Officer post was created to focus on the training and educational activities of the group. The group has attracted the support and involvement of local, and national expertise which further boosts the ability to offer high quality content not only in set courses but also in the apiary sessions and informal discussions and meetups.
